Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Consulting Application Developer / Business Intelligence Report Developer in the Department of Enterprise Applications and Research Computing (EARC) within the Office of Information Technology (OIT). Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Business Intelligence within OIT Enterprise Application Services (EAS), this position is a hands-on technical role. The position works closely with stakeholders to discuss organizational needs and gather dashboard requirements. They design, develop and implement Business Intelligence based reporting/dashboard solutions (i.e. Oracle Analytics Cloud reporting, Oracle BI Publisher reporting, Tableau reporting) to address business questions and improve business outcomes. The BI developer partners with various IT personnel and stakeholders in identifying required data elements. The developer has knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence, including data architecture, sourcing, reporting and analytics through the entire project lifecycle. The Business Intelligence Developer is a key role in the architecture, delivery and governance of reporting and data delivery. They help evangelize business intelligence reporting solutions to foster user adoption (including demos, educational materials, etc.). They provide support as a BI subject matter expert and are responsible for ensuring that Rutgers creates and adheres to Business Intelligence best practices and principles. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Responsible for all aspects of the BI reporting and dashboard development life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design, implementation, and support. Includes, performing detailed data analysis (i.e. determining the structure, content, and quality of the data through examination of source systems and data samples). Defines, executes and interpret complex/nested SQL queries determining data requirements. Establish standards and best practices for BI dashboards and related technologies. Manages a repository of re-usable data visualization templates and views. Support activities to document, evolve, and communicate artifacts developed using BI reporting work. Provides guidance, and mentoring to less experienced developers on BI reporting development lifecycle including tools, methodology and best practice, and provides support to user community. Helps with BI strategy and evangelize business intelligence reporting solutions to foster user adoption (including demos, educational materials, etc.) Keeps abreast of the latest BI, reporting and ETL technologies. Participates in the BI community, participates in forums, conferences, meetings, and presentations.

Position Pension Eligibility:

ABP Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in relevant field is required. Seven (7) years of experience as a BI reporting/dashboard development. Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of best practices in data visualization and Business Intelligence, including but not limited to cutting-edge software features and capabilities of Oracle Analytics Cloud, Oracle BI Publisher and Tableau. Experience using BI reporting solutions including troubleshooting issues and explaining functionality to business users. Experience developing content for and delivering training to others on the use of Oracle Analytics Cloud, Tableau or similar Business Intelligence solution. Experience with ETL tools or performing ETL processes. Strong aptitude for enhancing and automating queries from data sources such as relational databases and flat files. Experience analyzing data from large datasets, using geospatial and/or statistical analysis tools. Extensive experience developing and delivering BI reporting training, managing and tracking end user requests and troubleshooting BI reporting solution issues.
