Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
Incumbent will design, develop, and maintain scalable analytics solutions that transform enterprise data into actionable business insights. The ideal candidate combines strong business intelligence and reporting expertise with modern data engineering capabilities in Microsoft Fabric. This role will be responsible for developing end-to-end data solutions, including data ingestion, transformation, modeling, semantic layer design, and interactive reporting. While knowledge of data engineering is important, the primary focus of this position is delivering trusted, high-quality semantic models, KPIs, dashboards, and self-service analytics that empower business users.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into reporting solutions.
- Create intuitive, visually compelling dashboards that drive decision making.
- Develop and maintain KPI definitions, calculations, and business metrics.
- Optimize report performance, usability, and adoption.
- Implement row-level security (RLS), object-level security (OLS), and data governance standards.
- Support self-service analytics initiatives through certified datasets and reusable semantic models.
- Conduct report testing, validation, and user acceptance activities.
- Design and maintain scalable Power BI semantic models using dimensional modeling best practices.
- Develop star schemas, fact tables, dimensions, hierarchies, measures, and calculation groups.
- Create complex DAX measures and reusable business logic.
- Standardize and govern enterprise metrics to ensure consistency across reports.
- Promote dataset reuse and reduce duplication of business logic across reporting assets.
- Support deployment pipelines and lifecycle management of analytics solutions.
- Build and maintain Fabric Dataflows Gen2, Data Pipelines, Lakehouses, and Warehouses.
- Develop ELT/ETL processes to ingest data from ERP, POS, operational systems, APIs, and cloud sources.
- Implement medallion architecture principles, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers.
- Optimize data refresh, transformation, and storage performance.
- Support data quality, lineage, metadata, and governance initiatives.
- Collaborate with platform administration and infrastructure teams on Fabric best practices.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of Power BI development experience.
- 3+ years of Microsoft Fabric experience or equivalent Azure Data Platform experience.
- Prior experience with multi-location retail, convenience stores, quick service restaurants including familiarity with point-of-sale (POS), sales, inventory, pricing, promotions, loyalty, and store operations data.
Competencies & Capabilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Experience building enterprise dashboards and executive reporting solutions.
- Experience designing star schema data models.
- Strong understanding of business intelligence best practices.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders. Ability to elicit requirements from key stakeholders
- Business acumen - Ability to understand the business and create/deliver solutions via technology
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
Computer/Technical:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, semantic models, DAX, Power Query (M), data modeling, and SQL.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and Git preferred
- Experience with Power Automate or Logic Apps preferred
- Project management or ITIL certification preferred
- Microsoft Fabric certifications or Microsoft Power BI certifications preferred.
- Experience with Fabric Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, OneLake, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, or Databricks preferred
- Experience with Git integration, deployment pipelines, and DevOps practices preferred
- Experience with data governance initiatives and Microsoft Purview preferred
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise reporting environments preferred.
