Senior Power BI Developer

Job Description

Description All Roads is a growing, multi-business organization headquartered in Maryland, with operations across multiple locations and industries that depend on timely, trusted information every day. We are making a serious investment in Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and governed analytics, and this role will help shape how leaders across the company use data to run the business, improve operations, and find new opportunities. Priority will be given to those who currently reside in Maryland. We are unable to provide H1-B Sponsorship. This is a hybrid opportunity located in Maryland. Salary range is $110k - $135k All Roads is seeking an experienced Senior Power BI Developer to contribute to the development, improvement, and support of enterprise reporting and analytics solutions. This role will work across the Power BI reporting lifecycle, including requirements, semantic models, report development, deployment, governance, security, performance optimization, and user support. The right candidate will combine advanced Power BI development skills with a strong understanding of Microsoft Fabric, enterprise content distribution, and secure self-service analytics. The developer will also help structure reporting assets and data models so they are well governed, clearly described, and ready to support natural-language exploration, intelligent insights, automation, and future AI-enabled business applications. Key Responsibilities Develop, enhance, and maintain executive, operational, and analytical Power BI dashboards and reports that are accurate, intuitive, and visually clear. Build and optimize enterprise semantic models using sound dimensional modeling practices, reusable measures, consistent business definitions, and appropriate storage modes. Develop advanced DAX measures and calculations, including time intelligence, complex filtering, dynamic calculations, and multi-table business logic. Use Fabric Notebooks and related platform capabilities to shape, validate, and prepare data for reporting and analysis. Build Power BI solutions that use Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, dataflows, and related services as appropriate to the solution. Support organizational Power BI apps, audience structures, workspace organization, and content distribution methods for different divisions, departments, roles, and user groups. Implement and maintain row-level security and, where appropriate, object-level security using scalable role and user mapping approaches. Manage Power BI Service administration activities, including workspaces, gateways, refresh schedules, deployment pipelines, medallion architecture, permissions, endorsement, and release processes. Improve model and report performance through query diagnostics, model optimization, incremental refresh, aggregation strategies, and effective capacity use. Partner directly with business leaders and subject matter experts to translate business questions and operational requirements into practical analytics solutions. Establish and maintain standards for report design, naming, documentation, testing, deployment, data definitions, and ongoing support. Create trusted, reusable reporting assets that support governed self-service analytics across the organization. Prepare semantic models and supporting metadata for emerging AI-enabled analytics by applying clear naming, descriptions, business definitions, relationships, security, and governance. Use modern AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate development, troubleshoot issues, improve documentation, test solutions, and increase overall productivity while maintaining accuracy, security, and quality. Stay current with Microsoft Power BI, Fabric, and analytics platform capabilities, and recommend practical improvements that create measurable business value. Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of professional experience developing and supporting Power BI solutions in a business or enterprise analytics environment. Advanced proficiency with DAX, including evaluation context, calculation patterns, virtual tables, time intelligence, and performance optimization. Strong proficiency with Fabric Notebooks and Python for data transformation, validation, and reusable analytics workflows. Proficiency with Power Query and M for data transformation, shaping, and reusable query design. Demonstrated experience designing semantic models using dimensional modeling, star schemas, relationships, calculation groups, and appropriate storage modes. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and an understanding of how Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, OneLake, dataflows, and Direct Lake semantic models work together. Experience designing and administering organizational Power BI apps, audiences, workspaces, and enterprise content distribution. Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining row-level security in complex organizational environments. Experience with Fabric administration, deployment pipelines, medallion architecture, data gateways, refresh management, permissions, and governed release processes. Strong SQL skills and the ability to understand, validate, and troubleshoot data from multiple business systems. Experience contributing across the development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution development, testing, deployment, documentation, support, and user adoption. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and convert ambiguous business needs into clear, maintainable solutions. Demonstrated judgment in using AI-assisted development tools productively and securely without sacrificing validation, maintainability, or data protection. Experience using Git for source control and version management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of professional business intelligence or analytics development experience. Experience developing paginated reports using Power BI Report Builder or SSRS. Experience with source control, versioning, Tabular Model Definition Language, Tabular Editor, or application lifecycle management for Power BI assets. Experience with Power BI REST APIs, embedded analytics, automation, or programmatic administration. Experience supporting enterprise adoption through certified semantic models, documentation, training, and structured self-service reporting. Experience preparing governed business data and semantic models for natural-language querying, intelligent discovery, automation, or other AI-enabled analytics use cases. Experience working with automotive, commercial vehicle, equipment, dealership, distribution, service, parts, rental, or other multi-location operational data. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
