12 Months (with potential for extension) Project Overview This role supports a high‑visibility public sector modernization initiative within a government retirement services organization. The project centers on transitioning a large, legacy .NET application into the ServiceNow platform, with a strong emphasis on Customer Service Management (CSM). The Senior ServiceNow Developer will serve as the primary technical driver for this transformation, working closely with a Business Analyst, Solution Architect, and key business stakeholders. This is a hands‑on role where the developer will not only build solutions but also help shape business processes, guide technical direction, and influence how ServiceNow is leveraged across the organization. This engagement plays a direct role in improving how retirement services are delivered to thousands of members by modernizing systems, improving user experience, and enabling scalable, future‑ready workflows. Key Initiatives & Impact Lead the modernization of mission‑critical retirement services by migrating functionality from a legacy .NET environment into ServiceNow Drive adoption and optimization of ServiceNow CSM to improve case management, member services, and operational efficiency Influence business outcomes by helping stakeholders understand what is possible within ServiceNow, even when requirements are not fully defined Enhance identity verification, SSO, and authentication capabilities within the ServiceNow ecosystem Build intuitive, scalable, and user‑focused solutions that support long‑term digital transformation goals Responsibilities Serve as the primary, dedicated ServiceNow CSM developer for a large‑scale transformation initiative Design, develop, and implement custom applications, workflows, integrations, and UI components within ServiceNow Build and customize Service Portal experiences, including widgets and UI pages Develop workflows and automations using Flow Designer and scripting Migrate and modernize legacy .NET functionality into ServiceNow‑based solutions Collaborate in backlog refinement and solution design where requirements may be evolving or ambiguous Partner closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions Mentor and guide stakeholders by providing best practices and technical recommendations Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands‑on ServiceNow development experience Expert‑level experience with ServiceNow Customer Service Management (CSM) Strong experience building: Custom ServiceNow applications Service Portal UI pages and widgets Workflows and Flow Designer solutions Scripted REST APIs and integrations Proven experience migrating or modernizing solutions from legacy platforms (preferably .NET) into ServiceNow Ability to work independently and lead technical direction in a complex, evolving environment Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting retirement systems, benefits platforms, or public sector organizations Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non‑technical stakeholders Experience enhancing: Case Management Agent Workspace Playbooks and Knowledge Management Portal UX and customer‑facing experiences Why This Role Opportunity to be the primary technical voice on a major modernization effort High visibility and direct impact on public‑facing retirement services Ability to shape future business processes and ServiceNow strategy Long‑term engagement with a stable, mission‑driven organization Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Pierre, SD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $88.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
