Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Pre-Certification Collector must accurately and efficiently collect all co-pay, co-insurance, and deductible amounts due prior to the scheduled surgical procedure(s) while meeting Physicians standards and exhibiting excellence in customer service.
Qualifications:
High School graduate. 1 year experience in a medical environment dealing with insurance verification and authorizations, medical terminology, and CPT and ICD9 coding. Excellent verbal and written communication skill.
Key Responsibilities:
Obtains the insurance company's contracted rates. Calculates the patient's financial responsibility. Collects the patient's pre-surgery deposit. Completes and submits all non-payment letters. Completes Physician's instructions on non-payment letters. Completes daily batch of pre-surgery deposits for Accounting. Communicates effectively with staff, secretaries, physicians and patients. Encourages good communication with the Primary Care Physician's office, Insurance and Worker's Compensation carriers and the various Hospitals and surgery centers. Document and keep accurate records on all surgeries. All other duties as assigned. At FOI our goal is to provide our patients with world-class orthopedic care.
