Job Description

The Foundation for the NIH seeks a Senior Data Officer, AVP, Translational Science to lead data strategy for cross-sector biomedical research partnerships. This role designs and oversees data architectures, governance, and integration for translational science programs, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance. The Senior Data Officer collaborates with NIH, industry, and academic partners to enable advanced analytics, supports evidence generation for regulatory and clinical decision-making, and mentors data teams. This position suits a mission-driven leader eager to shape high-impact, global health research initiatives. Responsibilities Lead enterprise data strategy for translational science programs Design and oversee data architecture, integration, and governance frameworks Ensure data quality, security, and regulatory compliance across projects Enable advanced analytics to support clinical and regulatory decision-making Collaborate with NIH, industry, and academic partners on data initiatives Define data standards, metadata, and interoperability approaches Supervise and mentor data and analytics staff and external vendors Evaluate and implement data platforms, tools, and infrastructure Develop policies for data sharing, access controls, and stewardship Present data insights and strategy recommendations to senior leadership Required Skills Data governance Data architecture Translational science informatics Clinical research data standards (e.g., CDISC) Cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) Data integration and interoperability (APIs, HL7, FHIR) Statistical programming or analytics (R, Python, or SAS) Information security and compliance Project and program management Stakeholder and partner management
