  • Trait & Seed Innovation Lead
  • YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The primary responsibilities of this role, Trait & Seed Innovation Lead, are to: + Lead trait integration strategy and execution across 4 crops (corn, soybean, canola, and cotton) for the 4 global commercial hubs.
Includes incorporation of biotech, native, and gene editing traits into elite germplasm. + Lead winter nursery research seed production strategy and execution for 5 crops across 8 global research seed production centers. Includes seed production for breeding and biotechnology research activities. + Lead development and implementation of protected culture strategy for corn, soybean, cotton, and canola. Building visibility across all 27 crops which include vegetables. + Apply advanced analytics and operations research to create a "no-touch" pipeline. + Deliver innovative solutions for seed production, trait integration, and global seed logistics through the application of advanced marker technology, advanced analytics, and new automation and imaging equipment + Translate industry trends, emerging and disruptive technologies in breeding, marker technology, agronomy, and their applicability to accelerate Bayer's business strategy. + Responsible for leading a group of ~ 200 FTEs across 13 countries and 15 research facilities. + Deliver over the next decade, with the help of other R D Homes/Platforms, 4 of the 10 blockbusters for our Crop Science Business. + Place a high priority on building leadership and talent pipeline by selecting, attracting, retaining, developing and leading an inclusive and empowered team. +
  • _Digital & data fluency:_
  • proficient on core digital tools and workflows; coach of key data literacy and IP/Governance principles; able to critically assess analytics and AI outputs from a business point of view; cost‑aware use of digital resources. +
  • _Information management & collaboration:_
  • Cross‑functional digital collaboration, active socialization of information across the enterprise and beyond their own 'team', visionary and catalyst of digital and AI adoption. + Fiscally responsible for capital and budgetary oversight and for care and maintenance of company assets. + Strong focus and lead by example in the HS&E, Compliance, Ethics, IP and Human Rights space.
  • WHO YOU ARE
  • Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
  • Required Qualifications:
  • + PhD in science with minimum 8 years relevant experience, MS with minimum of 10+ years relevant experience.
Applied plant breeding and/or genetics background with operational experience a benefit. + Experience including technology and/or business strategy development across a diversified agricultural product portfolio and implementation; and driving innovation adoption. + Proven track record of cross-cultural leadership. + Excellent leadership skills by working and managing across countries with an enterprise level thinking mind set. + Track record of driving changes, leading innovation and continuing organizational change. + Excellent interpersonal skills, influence, communication, storytelling and representation towards a critical public, NGO and customer audiences. Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $191280- 286920. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
