Summary Description:
Saint Peter's University seeks an experienced and solutions-oriented Technical Director & Deputy CIO to lead the University's IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this role is responsible for ensuring that the University's technology environment is secure, resilient, and scalable in support of institutional priorities. The Technical Director oversees core infrastructure operations, including networks, cloud environments, and data systems, while leading the University's cybersecurity program and risk management efforts. This position plays a critical role in maintaining system reliability, protecting institutional data, and advancing technology modernization initiatives. Working closely with the CIO, the Technical Director helps ensure alignment between infrastructure and enterprise systems, including the University's ERP platform (Ellucian Colleague). The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to managing risk, performance, and innovation.Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Systems Architecture Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and cloud environments Develop and maintain an enterprise architecture roadmap aligned with institutional growth Oversee capacity planning, system performance tuning, and infrastructure scalability Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to enhance operational efficiency Cybersecurity Strategy & Operations Develop and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity program aligned with industry frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) Establish policies and procedures for data protection, access controls, and incident response Monitor security threats, vulnerabilities, and system activity using advanced tools (e.g., SIEM platforms) Lead investigations and remediation efforts for security incidents Conduct regular penetration testing and vulnerability assessments Risk Management & Compliance Conduct enterprise-wide IT risk assessments and business impact analyses Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, etc.) Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans Collaborate with internal audit and legal teams on compliance initiatives IT Operations & Service Delivery Ensure consistent uptime and reliability of all infrastructure systems Implement IT service management (ITSM) best practices to improve service delivery Establish monitoring tools and performance metrics to proactively identify issues Oversee system patching, upgrades, and maintenance schedules Cloud & Infrastructure Modernization Lead cloud adoption strategies, including migration from on-premise systems Optimize hybrid and multi-cloud environments for cost and performance Evaluate infrastructure investments for cost efficiency and scalability Leadership & Team Management Supervise and develop infrastructure and security teams Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff Collaborate closely with Applications Director to ensure alignment across systemsPay Range:
$165,000 - $175,000 annually. This role is based in-person at the Saint Peter's University campus.Benefits:
