Job Description

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in affiliation with New York City H+H/Queens, is seeking an experienced, visionary, and clinically exceptional leader to serve as the Associate Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology . Located in a vibrant community, our facility is easily accessible by public transportation and vehicle from all areas of New York City, New Jersey, and Long Island. This pivotal leadership role is designed for a motivated physician who possesses a strong interest in clinical quality operations, program development, and strategic expansion of women's health services.
Responsibilities Leadership & Administration:
Partner closely with the Department Chief to oversee all administrative, operational, and clinical aspects of the OB/GYN service. Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and performance evaluation for attending staff, residents, and mid-level providers. Step into the role of Acting Chief to manage departmental operations seamlessly when the Chief is away. Drive departmental quality improvement initiatives, patient safety protocols, and clinical care standards.
Clinical Excellence & Operations:
Maintain an active clinical presence, providing a full spectrum of high-quality obstetric and gynecological care. Oversee clinical coordination and service workflows (including labor & delivery, outpatient clinics, and operating rooms) to optimize patient care and throughput. Participate in the leadership call rotation and ensure robust departmental coverage.
Qualifications Education:
Must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree.
Training:
Successful completion of an ACGME-approved residency training program in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Licensure & Certification:
Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). Must possess or be eligible for a valid New York State Medical License, DEA registration, and a Medicaid number.
Experience:
Demonstrated leadership experience (e.g., Director, Unit Chief, or committee leadership) within an academic or complex hospital setting. Experience working within public health systems is highly preferred.
Skills:
Exceptional clinical judgment, strong interpersonal abilities, and outstanding communication skills necessary to lead diverse multidisciplinary teams.
