  • Full-time Overview Farm Service Agency (FSA) is looking for temporary office assistance to help deliver "The American Relief Act of 2025," which was signed into law on Dec.
21, 2024, and provided the U.S. Department of Agriculture with more than $30 billion to deliver disaster recovery assistance for farmers and livestock producers. This position will help support the implementation of the Emergency Livestock Relief Program and the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program which will provide assistance to producers for necessary expenses due to losses due to weather related events in 2023 and 2024. Agency Mission County Offices are the direct link between the Farm Service Agency (FSA) and local farmers and ranchers. County Offices are responsible for administering Agency programs at the local level, for providing guidance and assistance to program participants and others, and for leading outreach efforts to explain and promote Agency programs through public events and media presentations.
Responsibilities:
Carrying out office activities and functions pertaining to one or more of the program areas administered in the county. Interpreting and explaining procedures, program regulations and forms to producers and other agency personnel. Utilizing various web-based software applications to maintain producer data and processing automated forms. Using a high degree of initiative and judgment in planning and carrying out assigned tasks and resolving problems Work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch How to Qualify Applicant must meet the following qualifications:
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Be a high school graduate or have GED
  • Pass a background investigation
  • Meet qualification standards for CO-5, CO-7, or CO-9; applicants may qualify based on experience, education, or a combination of both.
CO-5 (Salary $47,490.00) 4 years of higher education beyond high school working towards a bachelor's degree or bachelor's degree in any field of study At least one year of general work experience in support of projects, programs, or assignments providing requisite knowledge of agricultural operations, agricultural management, governmental programs, or related office and customer service functions that indicate the ability to: Analyze problems, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions Plan and organize work Resolve conflict Communicate effectively both orally and in writing CO-7 (Salary $58,827.00) One-year specialized experience
  • equal to the CO-5 or GS-5 level that demonstrates knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and methods of fact-finding, analysis, and problem-solving techniques as they apply to the analysis, evaluation, and application of agricultural program requirements.
In addition, knowledge of and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to assist in assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of agricultural program operations to make recommendations for improvements 1 full year of graduate education from an accredited college or university or superior academic achievement CO-9 (Salary $71,957.00) One-year specialized experience
  • in the Federal Government equal to the CO-7 or GS-7 level that demonstrates knowledge of agricultural program policies and practices to independently examine applications, supporting documents, and program reports.
In addition, experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to assist in assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of agricultural program operations to make recommendations for improvements. Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education •
Specialized Experience:
is experience with FSA or other USDA agencies, State departments of agriculture, State or local extension services, or vocational agriculture schools where the candidate has acquired knowledge of the operational phases of farm programs, or farm credit programs carried out by the respective agencies or institutions. Education If you are qualifying based on education, submit a copy of your college transcript that lists college courses detailing each course by the number and department (i.e., BIO 101, MATH 210, etc.), course title, number of credit hours and grade earned. Advancement Opportunities CO grade levels are fully equivalent to GS grade levels. The grade progression for program analysts is
CO-5/7/9.
Most employees are eligible for advancement to the next higher grade after one year.
