Compensation:
Full-time position at $35.83 hourly pay, plus benefits. This pay represents the start of the pay range for this classification. This position is federally grant funded and contingent on available grant funding. The employer is Californians for Drug Free Youth, dba, Community Alliances for Drug Free Youth, a nonprofit organization that acts in a fiduciary capacity.Location:
San Diego, California SUMMARY This position announcement is for a Program Analyst at the San Diego United States Attorney's Office in downtown San Diego, CA, providing support to the Criminal Division.Job Description:
The position holder will provide support to the United States Attorney's Office by coordinating with the U.S. Marshal Service and the arresting/investigative agency to ensure the appearance of defendants at court hearings. The applicant must pass a law enforcement background investigation, which may include drug testing.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews the daily listing of defendants scheduled for court hearings provided by the U.S. Marshal Service. Conducts research to determine the nature of the charges, new or prior violations, date and location of incarceration, arresting agency and the name of the case investigative agent, ensuring the corresponding charging documents, complaints/indictments/warrants, are filed correctly, obtaining a copy of these documents Coordinating with the U.S. Marshal Service and the arresting/investigative agency to ensure the appearance of defendants at court hearings. Prepares a daily arraignment list of defendants scheduled for court hearings monitoring their status to ensure their timely appearances. Maintains and distributes a "NoBody" list, comprising defendants who fail to appear in court as originally scheduled due to medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. Generates reports on court appearances, disseminating them to various recipients, including the duty Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA), section chiefs, deputy chiefs, Clerk's Office and Court personnel, agency staff, and interoffice personnel. Acts as point of contact (POC) and reviewing future court calendar schedules in automated systems; coordinating the court appearances of defendants with case investigative agencies and AUSAs effectively. Conducts research in automated systems to ascertain whether defendants have other pending criminal charges and/or previous legal violations, reporting findings to the case/duty AUSA and Deputy Chiefs. Serves as the primary technical expert for Rule 20/Rule 40 cases, involving the transfer of prisoners, by maintaining a calendar and log, drafting necessary pleadings for pending cases, recording when charging documents are completed for defendants arraigned from other districts, and obtaining the required charging documents and arrest warrants. Processes bonds, conducts criminal history checks through the JWIN system, determining if the search results confirm a criminal history record for the person by establishing a match. Learns to correlate new information with existing information and draws conclusions regarding use patterns and trends. Prepares reports based on information collected and analyzed. Assists in dissemination of information to various agencies both verbally and in writing. Provides responsive, high quality service to employees, representatives of participating agencies by providing accurate, complete and up-to-date information. Learns which analytical techniques, methodologies, and technologies should be employed to meet the goals of the analytical task. Creates and uses manuals and automated files for performing analytical functions. Responds to various short-term requests. Maintains written logs and summaries of all analytical support provided. Prepares and disseminates written monthly reports. Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
