JOB SUMMARY
Controls Application Engineer supports the programming, commissioning, and optimization of commercial building automation systems. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional with hands-on experience in HVAC control systems, Niagara platforms, and Honeywell commercial controls.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Program, configure, and commission commercial building automation and HVAC control systems Develop and implement sequences of operation based on project specifications and engineering standards Perform system checkout, startup, troubleshooting, and optimization Modify and enhance existing control programs to improve performance and efficiency Support field technicians during installation and commissioning as needed Integrate third-party systems using industry-standard protocols Provide technical documentation and assist with customer training when required
MINIMUM AND/OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE:
2-4 years of hands-on experience with commercial control systems 2-4 year experience with AX and/or N4 platforms Working knowledge of BACnet, LonWorks, MODBUS, IP-based networking, and Niagara protocols
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
: Niagara N4 Certification required (Advanced preferred), or ability to obtain certification immediately after hire Certifications and/or practical experience with Honeywell WEBs, Spyder, CIPer, and Optimizer controllers Valid drivers license
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills Strong computer skills Controls installation experience Strong understanding of HVAC system operation and sequence of control programming Solid background in general electronics
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Climbing ladders and/or stairs Sitting/standing Lifting up to 20 lbs
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in both an office and a field environment. Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Work will be done in office environment and field which includes commercial roofs in inclement weather conditions.
