Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CAD Programmer to join our dynamic metal fabrication shop. In this role, you will be responsible for developing precise and efficient computer-aided design (CAD) programs to support manufacturing processes, ensuring seamless integration with CNC machinery and fabrication workflows. Your expertise will drive the creation of detailed technical drawings, programming of CNC machines, and optimization of machining operations. Duties Develop and modify 2D/3D CAD models and detailed blueprints using AutoCAD, Fusion, and other CAD software to meet project specifications. Program CNC machines such as CNC Laser cutting machine, CNC waterjet cutting machine, CNC bending machine, CNC milling machines, ensuring accurate tool paths for metal machining operations. Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for precise manufacturing. Utilize CAM software for programming complex machining sequences. Conduct precision measurements using calipers, bore gauges, micrometers, and other measurement instruments to verify part quality against specifications. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to implement lean manufacturing principles, streamline workflows, and improve overall process efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives. Skills Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, and engineering CAD design tools. Extensive experience programming CNC machinery and CAM software integration. Strong understanding of blueprint reading with emphasis on GD&T standards for mechanical parts. Mechanical knowledge related to metal machining processes, tooling setup, geometry calculations, and schematic interpretation. Ability to interpret technical schematics and mechanical blueprints accurately while applying measurement techniques using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, CMMs and other precision instruments. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity while maintaining high quality standards in a fast-paced environment. Excellent math skills related to geometry, measurement conversions (decimal to fraction), and program calculations necessary for precise machining operations.
