Job Title:
EDM Programmer Job Description This role involves programming, setting up, and operating Wire EDM machines to support low-volume, high-mix tooling and precision components. The position requires proficiency in Mastercam programming and the ability to maintain tight tolerances down to ±0.0002. Responsibilities Program Wire EDM machines using Mastercam for high-precision components. Define machining parameters to achieve tolerances ranging from ±0.0002 to ±0.001. Read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications. Select proper wire electrodes for hole popper. Set up and adjust machine parameters for optimal performance. Operate Wire EDM machines according to part specifications. Monitor machining processes to ensure accuracy, surface finish, and quality. Identify and troubleshoot machining issues during operation. Perform precision inspections using micrometers, calipers, depth mics, and related gauges. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances. Ensure all parts meet specified tolerances and quality standards. Essential Skills 5+ years of programming, setup, and operation of Wire EDM machines (Mitsubishi and/or Sodick EDM machines). Ability to program using Mastercam, including creating and modifying programs independently and defining cutting parameters for precision tooling work. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, quality inspection, and precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Precision Surface Grinder (Manual). Any relevant schooling or certifications. Why Work Here? Experience a mix of old and new machines as the facility continues to upgrade. Be part of a team of 14-15 individuals, working on a 1st shift schedule. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mt Clemens, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
