Robotic Weld Technician and Programmer
RESPONSIBILITIES
Robotic welding technicians install and operate automated welding systems, playing a key role in production efficiency and product consistency. They work alongside engineers and production teams to fine-tune welding parameters and keep systems running smoothly. Sets up programs, and maintains automated robotic welding systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and produce quality parts. Key duties include troubleshooting robot and weld controllers, performing preventative maintenance, and assisting with production runs. The role requires proficiency in welding processes, robotic programming, and safety protocols. Programming robotic welders for various welding operations and CNC machine tending Install, program, and adjust robotic welding equipment and weld controllers to meet production specifications. Install program and adjust CNC machine tending automation robots. Do trouble shoot issues with production to meet production targets Setting up, calibrating, and testing robotic arms and sensors Performing regular preventive and predictive maintenance on robotic welding systems Troubleshooting technical issues or system malfunctions Monitoring weld quality cut & etch, weld dimensions and adjusting settings as needed. Make sure processes meet quality standards. Use tools like calipers and gauges. Document and report process variations or quality issues. Diagnose and fix issues with robots and controllers to minimize downtime. Assist the manufacturing team with setups, tool changes, and problem-solving to ensure a smooth production flow. Adhere to all safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow environmental guidelines and maintain a clean and organized workspace
QUALIFICATION AND KNOWLEDGE
This role requires mechanical aptitude with knowledge of welding processes such as GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and spot welding Robotic welding technicians must have both welding experience and technical know-how related to automation and robotics. Must have foundational welding knowledge and AWS certification (AWS Certified Robotic Arc Welder) Technical diploma or associate degree in robotics, automation, or welding technology Experience with robotic systems like
FANUC, OTC
Daihen, Nachi, and Yaskawa Familiarity with welding processes and materials Comfort with programming logic, sensors, and PLCs (programmable logic controllers) Strong problem-solving and communication skills Ability to read and interpret technical documents like blueprints, prints, and check sheets. Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude. Physical ability to perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting, standing, and other repetitive motions. Understanding safety procedures and ability to work in a manufacturing environment Experience with specific robot and weld controller brands (e.g., OTC Daihen, Fronius, Lincoln) Ability to stand for long periods on shop floor Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds Must be able to train, assist, lead, direct, instruct and discipline employees Firm understanding of safety regulations including MIOSHA and Government. Ability to work at a computer workstation using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Strong sense of time management and urgency Ability to manage, navigate unexpected challenges with a focus to rapidly find solutions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Sitting, squatting, walking, bending 8 -10 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more.
  • Must be able to work in different weather conditions
  • Exposure to production environment
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This role functions in a welding, assembly and machine shop environment
  • This role routinely uses standard and special purpose equipment such as CNC machines, robots welding, assembly fixtures and tools
  • Technicians often work in assembly lines or automated production floors.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment when in a production area
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
