In this senior role, you will serve as the technical expert and primary trainer for our design, programming, and manufacturing operations, reporting directly to our Head of Engineering. The ideal candidate possesses advanced expertise in part design, tooling creation, complex multi-axis CAM programming, and hands-on machinery setup. As a Level III professional, you will not only execute the most complex projects independently but will also mentor and elevate our Level I and Level II programmers. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions As a Level III Programmer, you are designated as the Trainer (Level 3) across all operational disciplines:
Quoting:
Lead and train others in developing accurate manufacturing quotes for both simple parts and complex assemblies.
Advanced CAD Design:
Model advanced parts, complex multi-component assemblies, and high-tolerance manufacturing drawings.
Tooling & Fixture Engineering:
Design and build advanced production tooling, advanced fixtures, molds, and specialized trim fixtures.
Advanced CAM Programming:
Generate high-efficiency toolpaths for complex geometries, including 2D flat parts, 3-axis processes, and complex 5-axis applications for both flat and formed plastic parts.
Machinery Setup Expert:
Oversee and train teams on the precise setup of advanced manufacturing equipment, including 3 and 5-axis CNC routers.
Quality & Inspection:
Master and teach rigorous quality inspection protocols for finished parts, production tooling, and manufacturing fixtures.
Troubleshooting & Logistics:
Act as the ultimate technical escalation point for manufacturing troubleshooting and lead manufacturing planning and logistics.
Required Qualifications Experience:
5+ years of dedicated CAD/CAM programming experience, specifically within a plastic manufacturing environment (injection molding, thermoforming, or CNC plastic machining preferred).
Technical Mastery:
Proven independence and training-level capability in advanced CAD modeling, assembly design, and multi-axis CAM programming.
Machinery Competency:
Hands-on expertise setting up and operating multi-axis CNC routers/mills
Leadership Skills:
Demonstrated ability to mentor, train, and transfer technical knowledge to junior and mid-level programmers.
Problem Solving:
Advanced troubleshooting skills on the manufacturing floor to resolve complex structural or tooling challenges.
Detail Oriented:
Exceptional blueprint reading, GD&T knowledge, and precision inspection skills. Solidworks and Camworks experience is a plus but not necessary.
