Position Function:
The primary duties of this position include providing computer, programming, and system support within the Delta Research and Extension Center.
Salary Grade :
14 Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.
Department Profile:
This position will be located at the Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville, MS.
Anticipated Appointment Date:
September 2026.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Acquire knowledge of advancement software applications, programming procedures, and standards. 2. Perform general application administration and access management tasks. This involves answering questions regarding the use and configuration of systems and creating/managing/deleting user accounts for these systems 3. Design, code, and test applications software processes and reports, as well as modify existing applications to reflect changes in system requirements or hardware configuration. 4. Provide technical setup, support, and diagnostics on information technology related hardware including computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, tablets, and scanners. Provides coordination with secondary support if needed. 5. Prepare and maintain documentation to manage development, revisions, and end user utilization for systems and software utilized by the division. 6. Performs related duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree with focus in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
1 year of experience similar to duties described.
Substitution allowed:
Any equivalent combination of related experience and/or education approved by the Department of Human Resources Management.
Preferred Qualifications:
2 Years related work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to concentrate/focus for long periods of time.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks throughout the day.
  • Highly self-motivated and organized.
  • Excellent in teaching others how to use information technology.
  • Strong desire to learn new technologies.
  • Experience with installation and support of PC and/or Macintosh OS/application software.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on computers and audio/video equipment. Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
