Our client, a well-established Western New York manufacturer with decades of success, is seeking an experienced IBM i / AS400 professional to support and enhance the business-critical applications that run their operation. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who enjoys solving business problems, supporting manufacturing systems, and modernizing legacy applications over time. Unlike many IT roles, you'll be able to focus primarily on the IBM i environment while a third-party managed services provider handles the majority of the network and infrastructure responsibilities. What You'll Do Support and maintain mission-critical IBM i / AS400 business applications Troubleshoot production issues, including record locks and data integrity concerns Modify, maintain, and enhance RPG II and RPG400 applications Gradually modernize legacy System/36 applications and convert older programs to current technologies Support the company's migration to IBM Power9 hardware Work directly with end users to troubleshoot issues and improve business processes Coordinate with a third-party managed services provider on infrastructure-related needs Maintain system documentation, software licensing, and security standards Travel occasionally to other company locations as needed Technology Environment You'll work within a stable IBM environment, including: IBM i / AS400 IBM Power9 RPG
