KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS
  • Sets up and operates the Robotic Welder
  • Writes programs for various part configurations.
  • Loads/unloads programs and calls up proper program for each run of parts.
  • Changes tools, jaws and inserts as necessary.
  • "Teaches" or orients all tools.
  • Changes programs as necessary in order to optimize machine accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manually welds parts and subassemblies based upon shop orders/work orders/blueprints/sketches.
  • Makes and repairs temporary and permanent jigs used in the welding of casters.
  • Sets up and operates CNC Lathe(s), mills etc.
  • Demonstrates on a regular basis the ability to operate the machine(s) to its maximum potential.
  • Operates more than one machine simultaneously.
  • Assembles wheels, casters, brakes and subassemblies based upon work orders, factory orders, blue prints, or sketches.
  • Selects correct parts/hardware for assembly based upon work or factory order.
  • Modifies or changes parts on subassemblies based upon work or factory order.
  • Sets up and operates small machines, to include the drill press, hydraulic press, grinder, shear, saws.
  • Places raw and finished materials in designated storage areas.
  • Keeps aisles open and materials stacked in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Assists others in performing their duties.
  • Keeps management apprised of shortages and other inventory problems.
  • May operate a computer to document incoming/outgoing inventory in the cell.
  • Identifies and labels all containers with proper part numbers.
  • Operates power material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensures proper counts on all parts produced.
  • Understands and works from shop orders, blueprints, etc.
  • Loads/unloads parts and ensures the finished parts meet shop order/blueprint specifications.
  • Sets and adjusts tool offsets as necessary.
  • Monitors status of processing cycle and accommodates alert messages on CRT.
  • Cleans and performs routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Demonstrates on a regular basis the ability to operate the machine(s) to it/their maximum potential.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
  • May assist in training other employees.
  • May perform other miscellaneous related duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School education or equivalent. Able to read and interpret shop orders, blueprints, sketches and layouts. Able to use protractors, squares, combination squares and other measuring instruments. Able to use precision measuring instruments, to include telescope gauges, micrometers, dial calipers, etc. Must have own hand tools or be willing to acquire under company program. Must be familiar with basic machining, turning and welding technology. Good comprehension of mechanical assemblies. Some heavy lifting is required. Must demonstrate the ability to operate and program for a CNC lathe or Welding Robot. In addition, work history must illustrate the willingness/desire to work well with others, accept and promote change, have good attendance, work overtime when required and have a good work history, with good interpersonal skills.
