My client is seeking a Healthcare Planner and Programmer. This role is responsible for the functional planning and programming of complex medical environments, ranging from acute care hospitals to specialized ambulatory centers. The successful candidate will excel at translating clinical operational needs into efficient, innovative spatial solutions while leading user group meetings and ensuring compliance with healthcare-specific regulations.Key Responsibilities Clinical Programming:
Lead the development of comprehensive functional and space programs, conducting "deep dive" discovery sessions with clinical staff and hospital administrators to define departmental needs.Medical Planning:
Direct the "blocking and stacking" and departmental layout phases, ensuring optimal patient, staff, and supply workflows.User Group Facilitation:
Act as the primary facilitator for Clinical User Group meetings, utilizing evidence-based design (EBD) and Lean principles to guide stakeholders through design decisions.Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all planning efforts adhere to FGI Guidelines, Life Safety Codes, and Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) licensing requirements.Technical Integration:
Coordinate with the Project Architect to ensure that specialized medical equipment requirements (imaging, sterile processing, etc.) are accurately reflected in the architectural documentation.Equipment Planning Coordination:
Work with internal teams or third-party consultants to ensure medical equipment lists are integrated into the room-by-room program. Qualifications Required Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a related health-system design field. Licensed Architect or progress toward licensure. EDAC (Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification) is highly preferred. 5+ years of dedicated experience in healthcare planning and programming. Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Excel (for complex programming spreadsheets). Familiarity with Bluebeam Preferred Experience with major regional health systems and county hospital districts. Demonstrated ability to lead complex interview presentations for major healthcare pursuits. The ability to "speak the language" of clinicians and translate operational workflows into high-performing architectural plans.
