GENERAL SUMMARY
The Automation/Controls Programmer III is a mid-level programmer responsible for independently designing, programming, and commissioning automation systems. This role requires proficiency in PLC, HMI, and SCADA development, along with the ability to support field operations and troubleshoot complex control issues.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement, and test PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs for automation projects Conduct system integration and ensure compliance with client specifications and industry standards Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics on automation systems Lead small programming projects or workstreams with minimal supervision Provide technical support during commissioning and startup phases Train and mentor Programmer I staff and assist in knowledge transfer
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Proficient in PLC and HMI programming (AllenBradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar) Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.) Ability to read and interpret electrical/control schematics and P&IDs Strong problemsolving and analytical skills Capable of handling projects independently and supporting field teams
EDUCATION, LICENSES AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls/Automation Engineering preferred 5 years mínimum of experience in automation and controls programming Experience in commissioning industrial systems required Must pass background check and drug screening

Office and fieldbased work (industrial site environments)
Physical Activity:
Requires Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and working around energized equipment
Work Schedule:
Fulltime; may require overtime, shift work, weekends, and emergency callouts.
Travel:
depending on job site and project schedule
