Full Job Description About Us:
Morgan Newton is a leading contract manufacturer for high-quality printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies. We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled AOI Machine Programmer to join our team. This role is critical to maintaining inspection accuracy, supporting new product introductions, and driving continuous improvement in our SMT manufacturing processes.
Brief Job Summary:
Develop, optimize, and maintain AOI inspection programs on Omron VT-S series platforms Build and refine AOI programs with minimal production interruption Support new product introduction (NPI), first article builds, and ongoing production quality improvements Serve as the technical resource for AOI-related issues and program-level troubleshooting Other duties as assigned Hourly, non-exempt, full-time position

Qualifications:
Must be a US citizen or permanent legal resident Must be able to fluently read, write, and understand English Must be able to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment Punctual with a strong attendance record Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Minimum high school diploma or GED Minimum 3 years of AOI programming experience in a PCB/SMT manufacturing environment Solid understanding of SMT processes, common solder defect types, and component technologies (01005, BGA, QFN, through-hole) Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, Gerber data, and component data sheets Working knowledge of
IPC-A-610
acceptability standards Proficiency with inspection software and general computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
IPC-A-610
CIS or CIT certification Experience programming SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) equipment in addition to AOI Exposure to MES or quality management systems in a manufacturing environment Experience supporting ITAR/EAR-controlled production environments Familiarity with Omron's

Physical Demands and Activity:
Use of hands and tools to properly perform the job Ability to handle small components, sit or stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks Lift minimum of 40 pounds Close visual acuity required for component-level inspection
Main Functions:
Create and validate AOI inspection programs from CAD data, Gerber files, BOMs, and assembly drawings Configure and fine-tune 2D and 3D inspection parameters, including component libraries, solder joint tolerances, and inspection windows, to achieve optimal defect detection and minimize false calls Maintain consistent inspection quality across product lines Manage and maintain the program library; ensure version control and accurate documentation for all active and archived programs Operate AOI equipment to inspect PCB assemblies at pre- and post-reflow stages per
IPC-A-610
standards Review inspection results and perform false-call analysis; distinguish and document defects vs. false positives and work with operations to reduce escape and over-rejection rates Support NPI activities including first article inspection, program development for new assemblies, and documentation of inspection criteria Coordinating with process engineering and SMT leads to correlated AOI findings with upstream processes Communicate defect trends and quality data to production leads, process engineering, and management Perform and document all required preventative maintenance for AOI equipment per Good Documentation Practices and equipment maintenance logs Immediately notify supervision of any equipment malfunction or inspection anomaly Maintain accurate records of inspection results, program changes, defect logs, and rework actions Keep work area clean, organized, and in compliance with ESD and safety requirements Work with travelers to guide assemblies and inspection records through the manufacturing process

Associate will be required to take all appropriate training classes as assigned Willingness to cross-train into other departments

$25.00 - $29.00 per hour
