Overview Level Experienced Position Type Full Time Job Shift 1st Shift Description The Brake Press Operator 4 - Offline Programmer is responsible for performing offline programming, job dispatch, setting up, and operating brake press machines to bend, shape, and fabricate metal components according to specifications. This role requires a keen eye for detail, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a metal fabrication environment. This position will have expertise with blueprints, precision measuring tools, and CNC or manual brake press equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform offline programming utilizing specialized company software
  • Assist in job dispatch as needed
  • Set up and operate brake press machines to bend, form, and fabricate metal components.
  • Perform programming operations on brake press machines.
  • Adjust settings/programs as needed.
  • Produces simple to complex parts (multiple bends and bend sequences).
  • Coordinates with team on transporting finished parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine machine settings and part specifications.
  • Perform machine adjustments, tooling changes, and troubleshooting to ensure precision and efficiency.
  • Inspect parts using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to maintain quality control.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace by following safety procedures and using proper protective equipment.
  • Work closely with supervisors and team members to optimize production efficiency and meet deadlines.
  • Perform routine maintenance and report machine malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Follow company policies, safety protocols, and quality assurance guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Accurately log job information into ERP computer system.
  • Accurately fill out required operations and quality paperwork.
  • Train and coach employees on fundamental brake press operations including setups and troubleshooting.

Problem Solving Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent Experience and/or
Training:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience and/or training in brake press operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience and/or training in brake press setups.
  • Must possess proficiency in math (adding, subtracting, converting decimals, and fractions)
  • Must possess proficiency in measurement skills (tape measure, protractor, height gauge, and caliper)
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude
  • Must possess proficiency in reading forming blueprints.
  • Knowledge of reading, writing, and understanding work instructions, work orders, or customer specifications
Preferred Qualifications Education:

Training:
  • Brake press programming exposure
  • Experience with Cincinnati brake presses
  • Prior experience in working in a leadership capability
  • Prior experience in conducting on-the-job training for new hires
  • Prior experience with ERP systems Physical and Mental Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently sit, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and move between work areas.
  • Regularly required to talk and listen, as well as climb, balance, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • The employee must be able to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.
