Position Summary The Programmer is responsible for the installation, configuration, and programming of home automation systems. This role requires attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration with field and project teams to deliver seamless system integration and client satisfaction. This role will also be responsible for installation of TVs, speakers, cameras, and other equipment. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, communicative, and committed to high-quality workmanship. The ideal candidate has experience in the home automation sector with Lutron, Savant, and Control4 programming expertise. Core Responsibilities Technical Responsibilities Execute programming, testing, and configuration of home automation systems Conduct onsite system setups, ensuring accuracy and quality Troubleshoot programming and integration issues Documentation & Jobsite Management Maintain detailed programming documentation Provide clear technical support and guidance to field teams Assist in developing programming best practices Collaboration & Communication Coordinate closely with project managers, field technicians, and clients Clearly communicate project status and technical updates to the team Actively participate in team problem-solving Continuous Improvement & Operational Development Actively participate in team problem-solving Required Skills & Qualifications Detail-oriented and highly organized Proactive problem-solving mindset Committed to quality and continuous improvement Technical & Operational Skills Strong proficiency in home automation system programming Experienced in troubleshooting technical issues Proficient with relevant programming and documentation software Experience with home automation platforms (e.g., Crestron, Control4, Lutron, Savant) Proven ability to configure and integrate complex residential systems Communication & Collaboration Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Valid Wisconsin Driver's License Successful completion of pre-employment background check (including drug screen) 3+ years experience in home automation programming or technical leadership Strong proficiency in relevant programming and documentation software Flexibility to work hours outside of normal work-schedule as needed, in order to meet company installation deadlines, and business productions goals.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires regular physical activity, including lifting, climbing, balancing, walking, and handling tools or materials. Candidates must be able to carry and move equipment weighing up to 50-70 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions such as on ladders, scaffolding, or lifts up to 40 feet, and in confined spaces like crawl spaces, ceilings, or ducts.
Expectations:
Internal- and client-facing role, professional interaction required Must be available to take calls/emails outside of standard 7am-3:30pm hours as needed. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Reduced programming rework and onsite technical issues Timely completion of project programming tasks Clear and accurate documentation maintained consistently
