Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the resilient server, network, and containerized infrastructure that powers the organization's IT and OT environments. You will leverage industry best practices to manage Kubernetes orchestration, virtualized resources, and software-defined networking to ensure peak performance. Beyond core maintenance, you will provide expert daily operational support to guarantee business continuity, proactively identifying opportunities to automate workflows, optimize resource density, and scale systems in alignment with evolving manufacturing needs.
Accountabilities:
Scalable Architecture:
Evolve network and compute architecture to support OT expansion, ensuring the infrastructure can handle high throughput demands.
Unified Governance:
Establish and enforce naming conventions and tagging schemas across the stack, from physical switches to Kubernetes resources.
Standardization Leadership:
Collaborate in defining global infrastructure standards, integrating container security policies and hardware specifications.
Resilience & Data Integrity:
Design and manage Backup and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies for manufacturing locations, focusing on VMs and containerized workloads.
Operational Continuity:
Ensure maximum uptime for manufacturing by maintaining high-availability clusters and leveraging self-healing capabilities.
On-Site Technical Support:
Provide hands-on desktop and systems support to plant users, acting as the bridge between shop-floor needs and centralized IT.
Key Metrics & Financial Targets:
Infrastructure Efficiency:
Successful optimization of datacenter layout and container density.
Performance Monitoring:
Identification of bottlenecks, including microservices latency and K8s traffic.
Capacity Planning:
Analysis of resource usage versus future needs using predictive scaling.
Service Reliability:
Meeting OLA/SLA targets with a focus on Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR).
Resource Cost Management:
Optimization of spend by right-sizing volumes and reducing unused resources.
Customer Excellence:
Improving system uptime and deployment cycles through automated orchestration.
Skills Needed To Be Successful:
Experience & Education:
5+ years of related work experience in enterprise infrastructure or systems engineering.
Virtualization & Compute:
Deep knowledge of storage, servers, and Hypervisors (VMware preferred).
Containerization & Orchestration:
- Hands-on experience with Docker or similar container runtimes.
Proficiency in Kubernetes (K8s) orchestration (clusters, pods, and namespaces).
Networking & Security:
- Strong knowledge of routing, firewalls, OOB management, and switching.
Familiarity with Cloud Native Networking (CNI) and Load Balancing.
Automation & Scripting:
Advanced scripting skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
Domain Expertise:
Understanding of manufacturing operations and IT/OT integration.
Soft Skills:
Strong communication, exceptional troubleshooting, and a "self-starter" mindset. Nice to Have (Not Required): Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible). Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows. Technical certifications (Cisco, Palo Alto, AWS, or
CNCF CKA/CKAD
).
