Job Description
The PC Technician (PCT) is responsible for day-to-day general-purpose support for all company users. Duties include setting up and maintaining personal computers, printers, and phones, installing software, and providing a wide array of application support. This position is critical to the smooth operation of mobility device support of the PeopleNet Fleet Management software. PCT is hands-on in our trucks, maintaining tablets and camera systems. PCT must be available to our fleet of drivers and in-office PC users on demand. Duties and responsibilities The employee will be responsible for performing the following: Addresses help desk tickets. Troubleshot, repaired, maintained, installed, and tested various computer equipment, peripherals, data communication systems, and computer network systems. Is responsible for the proper operation of PeopleNet tablets and fleet tracking software. PCT is the first to evaluate and fix issues that truck drivers may be experiencing. Assists with major software upgrades. PCT will modify or create new Crystal Reports. Assembles, installs, configures, and tests computer equipment or units of local area networks requiring the use of standard interface protocols. Uses electronic test equipment, such as cable testers, to troubleshoot communication malfunctions. Uses computer-aided diagnostics and digital logic devices as needed to locate malfunctions. Maintains software and hardware inventory and tracking systems. Requests equipment orders to be placed for various projects and requirements. Installs cable for the phone system. Performs moves, adds, deletes, and other changes for phone users. Sets up calling features such as automatic call distribution groups, pick groups, call processing, and voice mail. Provides phone support and training to new users and solves miscellaneous phone problems. Performs preventive maintenance for computer, data communication, and/or peripheral equipment; tests and adjusts to appropriate standards. Works directly with the IT Director for daily briefings and mission-critical problems that may be encountered.
