Position Overview:
Kings View is seeking a Peer Support Specialist I to join our Warm Line team. The Warm Line is a non-crisis support service providing emotional support, resources, and connection to individuals through phone and messaging services 24/7. This role provides one-on-one peer support using lived experience, active listening, and a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach to support individuals with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Warm Line Support:
Answer incoming calls and return voicemails Provide emotional support using peer support principles Utilize active listening to assess caller needs Collect and document demographic and survey information accurately
Crisis Awareness & Response:
Handle high-risk calls in accordance with Warm Line procedures Apply de-escalation and support techniques as needed Effectively manage stressful and emotionally complex situations
Program Support:
Participate in staff meetings and supervision sessions Support outreach activities when needed Maintain confidentiality and follow all policies and procedures Work flexible hours as part of a 24/7 program
General Duties:
Interact professionally with staff and the public Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and respect Perform other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring:
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Experience working with the public Valid California Driver's License (Class C) Must be engaged in personal wellness and recovery if a consumer
Required Skills:
Strong communication and active listening skills Ability to manage multiple calls and tasks Ability to remain calm in stressful situations Basic computer and documentation skills Knowledge of local resources preferred

Compassionate and empathetic Strong interpersonal skills Open-minded and culturally sensitive Reliable and adaptable Willingness to learn and grow
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Background check Drug screening Live Scan (DOJ fingerprinting)
Work Environment:
This role is performed in an office or remote setting and involves extended periods of sitting, phone communication, and computer use. The position may involve handling emotionally intense situations and requires professionalism and resilience.
