Job Description
Description We are looking for a Field Support Technician to provide hands-on technical assistance for end users and workplace technology in Tampa, Florida. This contract opportunity has the potential to become permanent and is ideal for someone who enjoys solving desktop and device issues, supporting day-to-day IT operations, and delivering dependable service in a fast-paced environment. The person in this role will help maintain user productivity by resolving hardware, software, and connectivity concerns while collaborating with broader IT teams as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver first- and second-level technical support for computers, applications, and end-user devices across the organization.
- Set up, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, mobile equipment, printers, scanners, cameras, and similar technology assets.
- Investigate workstation, software, and connection problems, resolving issues directly when possible and routing advanced cases to the appropriate teams.
- Assist with application rollouts, software validation, updates, and packaged deployments to support a stable user environment.
- Handle account provisioning, device staging, inventory updates, and replacement of malfunctioning hardware.
- Perform foundational network diagnostics, including checking cabling, Ethernet links, and communication between devices and the network.
- Record support activity in ticketing systems, manage competing priorities, and keep users informed with clear status updates.
- Create and update knowledge articles, technical guides, and user-facing instructions to improve support consistency.
- Provide basic technology guidance to staff and explain technical topics in a clear, practical manner.
- Travel to remote sites for equipment installation, retrieval, maintenance, and on-site troubleshooting as needed. Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in desktop support, field support, help desk, or a similar IT support role.
- Working knowledge of Windows 10, Microsoft Windows environments, and macOS systems.
- Experience supporting desktop and laptop hardware, peripheral devices, and general setup or configuration tasks.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, service desk ticket management, and routine endpoint support processes.
- Basic understanding of network connectivity concepts, including troubleshooting wired connections, VPN access, and related infrastructure issues.
- Strong problem-solving ability with a practical approach to diagnosing and prioritizing technical issues.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support non-technical users effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
