Regulatory compliance FISMA Regulatory Frameworks (Architecture security) Third-party risk management Security technology solutions implementations Full Job Description We are seeking an IT Security Specialist to design, implement, and maintain the robust security posture of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service (NWS) at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) to manage risk, draft crucial authorization documentation, and guarantee rigorous compliance with federal regulations. Key Responsibilities Formulate, integrate, and review day-to-day operations against federal security benchmarks to maintain the official NOAA baseline configurations. Lead risk analyses, compile documentation packages, and act as a third-party security assessor for the formal Security Authorization process. Implement security controls to uphold and improve the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of LAN data across processing, storage, and transit states. Assist local management with incident response reporting, providing full documentation to the Security Officer/System Owner following any suspected security events. Mandatory Qualifications Demonstrated background implementing and validating
NIST SP 800-53
security controls. Strong operational mastery of FISMA compliance requirements, direct background authoring government security documentation, and verifiable experience acting as a third-party security assessor.
