Job Description

IT Operations Support Specialist Contractor place Chicago, Illinois calendar_today 23 Apr 2026 Akkodis is seeking an IT Operations Support Specialist for a Contract with a client in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience in server administration, network troubleshooting, and end‑user technologies to resolve issues, support IT systems, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing execution environments.
Rate Range:
$35/hour to $45/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. IT Operations Support Specialist Job Responsibilities include: Provide hands-on support for plant IT infrastructure and manufacturing applications to ensure uninterrupted production operations. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to servers, networks, end‑user devices, and plant floor systems in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Support and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtual environments, Active Directory, and network components including routers and switches. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, supporting lean manufacturing, error‑proofing, and manufacturing execution systems (MES). Collaborate with global IT and plant teams to analyze system issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement long‑term solutions. Support plant floor technologies such as PCs, printers, scanners, mobile devices, Office 365, and SharePoint to meet productivity goals.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience). 3-5 years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure support, or manufacturing IT support environments. Hands‑on experience with server administration (Windows/Linux), networking fundamentals (Cisco routers/switches), virtualization, and Active Directory. Proven ability to provide on‑site technical support in a manufacturing or plant environment, including troubleshooting plant floor systems, end‑user devices, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Pay Details:
