Lead Technical Support Engineer Location :
Greenfield, Indiana About Civan Lasers Civan Lasers develops high-power Dynamic Beam Lasers for advanced welding applications. As the company expands in North America, this role will help deliver strong installation, service, and customer support capabilities. Position Overview This role will lead customer technical service, installation, commissioning, training, and post-installation support at Civan Lasers customers. The position requires frequent travel to customer sites across North America and includes hands-on support in the application lab when not in the field. Key Responsibilities Lead installation, startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance of laser welding systems. Serve as the primary technical contact for customer service and post-installation support. Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, optical, controls, and process-related issues in the field and remotely. Train customers on safe operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and best practices. Manage all service center activities, including service equipment and inventory. Managing overall installation process. For example, detailed planning before, during, and after installation to ensure the entire process runs smoothly. Document service activity and communicate field feedback to engineering and applications teams. Assist in developing technical service standards. Support laser operation, demonstrations, and customer visits in the application lab when not traveling. Represent the company professionally at customer sites and help build strong customer relationships. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in optics, photonics, laser engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may also be considered. Minimum 5 years of applicable experience (see points below for examples of "applicable experience") Experience installing, integrating, commissioning, and/or supporting complex industrial systems in customer environments. Background in technical service, field service, installation, and/or customer support engineering. Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills with complex industrial equipment and technical systems. Ability and willingness to travel frequently across North America. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with customers and internal teams. Commitment to safe work practices in industrial environments. Preferred Qualifications An advanced degree in optics, photonics, laser engineering, physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field Direct experience with laser installation, integration, or welding process support. Experience training customers or operators on technical equipment. Familiarity with industrial automation, motion systems, or manufacturing processes. Familiarity with the general welding industry and welding automation
