Job Description
IT Specialist Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, adaptable, and customer-focused IT Specialist to support the organization's day-to-day technology operations while coordinating system-related projects across multiple facilities. This position combines traditional IT support, IT asset management, and project coordination to ensure employees have the technology and systems they need to operate efficiently. The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver who enjoys working directly with users, managing technology assets, and coordinating projects between technical teams and business operations. This role requires excellent communication, organization, documentation, and follow-through skills. Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support
- Respond to help desk requests and provide timely technical support to employees.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, printer, network, and user-related issues.
- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade computers, mobile devices, scanners, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Assist employees with day-to-day technology questions and system issues.
- Coordinate repairs and warranty service with third-party vendors when necessary.
- Document support requests, resolutions, and recurring issues. IT Asset Management
- Manage the company's inventory of IT assets, including computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, scanners, monitors, and related equipment.
- Maintain accurate asset records and equipment assignments.
- Prepare and configure equipment for new employees.
- Recover equipment from departing employees.
- Track equipment transfers between company locations.
- Coordinate equipment repairs, replacements, and lifecycle management.
- Assist with purchasing recommendations and equipment standardization. WMS & Systems Coordination
- Work closely with the Warehouse Management System (WMS) team to coordinate system enhancements and improvements.
- Gather business requirements from internal departments.
- Communicate project requirements and specifications to technical teams.
- Assist with creating and modifying custom print jobs, labels, and reports.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and system validation.
- Help ensure system updates are successfully implemented with minimal operational disruption.
- Document system changes and communicate updates to end users. Project Coordination
- Coordinate technology-related projects across multiple facilities.
- Track project timelines, action items, and implementation progress.
- Collaborate with operations, warehouse management, and software vendors to ensure successful project completion.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement through technology. QualificationsRequired
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience providing technical support in a business environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, printers, and general computer hardware.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation for occasional travel between facilities. Preferred
- Experience supporting Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP systems.
- Experience managing IT assets and equipment inventories.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
- Experience with barcode scanners, mobile devices, thermal printers, and warehouse technology.
- Experience coordinating technology or software implementation projects. Work Environment
- This is a hourly position requiring flexibility in scheduling based on business needs.
- The employee will work at our Plainfield, Indiana location.
- Occasional travel between company facilities is required.
- Availability for occasional after-hours or on-call support may be required for urgent technical issues. Skills & Competencies
