Job Description

Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh - a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox. Fort Knox prioritizes being a strong contributor to the State and local communities, and since 2001, has helped support more than 300 community partners and has contributed more than US$25 million to the Alaska Mental Health Trust. Job Description Requires skilled work and knowledge of repairing Windows and Linux server/desktop operating systems, network installation, and maintenance which includes wireless networks and security of LAN/servers/network domains. Install, upgrade, repair, and configure desktop computer hardware, software, and accessories to support a 300+ desktop computer network. Work with users to identify solutions and optimize computer performance in compliance with company policy and practice. Responsible for daily operations of data backups on servers. Work on telephone system. Perform independent job assignments as directed by I.T. Superintendent. Job Responsibilities Operate servers to include file/folder security setup and create user accounts. Establish and modify network connectivity including VLANs and wireless. Perform daily operations for data backups. Configure, install, and deploy both wired and wireless devices. Prepare instructional material for end users; provide training. Punctuality and regular attendance are required. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management. Possession of a valid drivers license issued by the state. Work without significant risk of harm to self or others. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records. Bachelor of Science in computer science preferred. Preferred certifications to include Comp TIA Net+, MCSA, and MCSE.
Experience:
Two years hands-on experience in technical support for hardware and software preferred. Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records. Bachelor of Science in computer science preferred. Preferred certifications to include Comp TIA Net+, MCSA, and MCSE. Two years hands-on experience in technical support for hardware and software preferred. Proficient with Windows desktop and server operating system software. Familiarity with common desktop software applications with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite. Proficient with VMware ESXi. Must be dedicated to customer service. High work load; must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Must be able to prioritize priority incidents with day to day tasks. Familiarity with wiring, cabling, diagrams, connections, communications outlet terminations, and other connect ability hardware. Must be able to follow all department SOPs. Must be detail oriented. Must have solid verbal and written communication skills. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets. Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends. Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of checklists.
