TITLE:
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the City's computer systems and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Installation of PC hardware and maintains inventory of PC hardware. Maintenance of computer hardware and local networks. Installs, configures, manages, and trains on software. Troubleshoots to identify and resolve computer and network issues. Cabling for new computer systems. Maintaining documentation for citywide systems. Provide helpdesk support for computer and network issues. Tests and evaluates new technology.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED equivalent; previous experience as help desk technician, computer technician, or IT support; Associate degree in IT preferred; in-depth knowledge of internet security and data privacy principals; verbal and written communication skills; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky driver's license.
