Job Description:
Position Summary This hands-on position provides support for classroom instructional technology and limited first-level technical support for desktops, laptops, and related IT equipment. This role ensures instructional spaces are properly equipped and functioning and assists faculty/staff with basic troubleshooting and technology setup. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide on-site support for classroom technology (projectors, smartboards, AV controls, cameras). Set up and maintain presentation systems and instructional AV equipment across campus. Respond to basic help desk requests in person, via phone, or email (password resets, printer setup, software installation, login assistance). Troubleshoot basic desktop and laptop issues such as peripheral connections, application errors, and user interface problems. Deliver and install hardware such as monitors, printers, scanners, and basic network cables (no system-level config). Maintain inventory of classroom and desktop support equipment. Escalate advanced technical issues to appropriate union support staff or system administrators. Assist with virtual meeting setup (e.g., Zoom, Teams) for instruction or events. Participate in training to remain current with campus-supported tools.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's Degree in IT, AV Technology, or a related field. One year of experience supporting instructional technology and/or IT hardware. Familiarity with Windows/macOS environments and basic productivity tools. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and work in classroom/event environments. Valid driver's license and transportation for campus travel. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Extron, Crestron, or similar classroom AV systems. Prior work in a college or academic setting. Understanding of Tier 1 support principles and escalation workflows. Familiarity with remote tools like Zoom, Teams, or classroom capture software. Work Conditions Primarily on-campus, with travel between classroom buildings and campuses. Occasional evenings/weekends during semester start-up or event support.
