Senior Helpdesk Engineer Job Summary:
Alsym Energy is looking for a self-driven, motivated engineer with a passion for supporting secure, scalable infrastructure while building their own technical skillset. Your goal in this role isn't just to close tickets; it's to empower our team as a productivity partner, ensuring our staff has seamless access to the tools and systems they need to innovate. Reporting directly to the Head of IT, you will provide essential day-to-day user support and serve as the first line of support for the IT department. This is a unique opportunity to act as a technical advocate for our users while collaborating with senior staff on high-impact infrastructure projects
Industry Background:
Energy storage is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the global energy economy, with annual stationary storage capacity additions projected to grow 23% per year from 2025 to 2035, driven by surging electricity demand from electrification, data centers, and AI infrastructure. Yet lithium-ion - the dominant technology - remains plagued by inherent flammability risks, high-profile fires that have eroded public trust, and fragile supply chains. Alsym Energy is developing non-flammable, high-performance sodium-ion batteries that solve these fundamental limitations to enable a new generation of safe and cost-effective energy storage based on globally abundant sodium.
Key Qualifications:
Two or more years of hands on IT support experience At least one professional certification (e.g. CompTIA Network+ or Security+) Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows OS + macOS Experience with operational processes including ticketing, deployment workflows, process validation, daily tasks (working within an ITIL framework) Experience writing documentation to capture process and technology details for repeatable and deterministic high-quality results. Hands on experience assembling computer systems (desktop and servers), replacing/updating peripherals and connections. Understanding of IP networking and basic network configuration Understanding of Active Directory/Entra, including domain computer configuration and user configuration, security groups and distribution groups Ability to move and set up physical systems including computers, monitors, servers and other devices weighing upwards of 50lbs.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Provide daily user centric onsite technology support to users to physical and virtual desktops, laptops, servers, mobile devices, applications, and conference AV equipment. Provision, configure and deploy desktops, laptops, and server systems. Build high-quality technical documentation and SOP's. Execute, create and evolve standardized technology solutions and operating procedures. Collaborate with team members on projects and tasks Occasional night or weekend work for items that must occur outside of production hours Prior exposure to the following is a plus: VMWare and/or Citrix environments.
