Customer Support Engineering
- 4#26-13882 Troy, MI All On-site Job Description About this position: The Project Engineering Technician is responsible for Vehicle Data Recorder (VDR) activities in customer and other test vehicles. This is an entry-level position that has the potential to grow into a Operations, Project Engineer, or Data Analyst role. Responsibilities and duties
- Cross-functional support for our CSE program and Operations Teams tasks/activities, and projects
- Track and maintain VDR and peripherals functionality
- Ensure VDR's are functioning and recording data
- Ensure that the VDR's remain up to date with current software and firmware levels
- Maintain all components of VDR system
- Installations, inspections/triage, and removals as necessary
- Maintain hardware and accessory inventory
- Respond to all VDR diagnostic codes that are generated from the customer fleet
- Review customer data to verify correctness, completeness, and data fidelity
- Work with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information from in-field evaluations
- Assist in Supplier Management and engineers with product tests
- Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in engineering technology (Mechanical or Electrical), Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Valid Driver's License required
- Administrative skills involving Microsoft Office suite
- Mechanical, 'hands-on' experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills. This role interacts with both external customers and internal management.
- Ability to see the "big picture" and understand how individual tasks interconnect and impact other parts of the testing process.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; lift up to 50lbs; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear; or be positioned in tighter vehicle spaces. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
