Job Description

About the Role If you're looking for a predictable IT job where you reset the same password twelve times a day, this probably isn't it. At Pro IT, our world is varied, fast-moving, and rarely the same two days in a row. One day you may be troubleshooting a server, the next working through a firewall or network issue, and later explaining to a frustrated business owner why their Wi-Fi is doing something weird. We're looking for an experienced IT professional who already has a solid technical foundation and wants the opportunity to work across the full IT stack. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who has spent time working in IT professionally and is comfortable troubleshooting problems without needing step-by-step instructions for the basics. You don't need to know every product or platform we use on day one. We'll teach you our tools, processes, and way of doing things. But we do expect you to bring real-world IT experience with you. What You'll Do Be one of the primary faces of Pro IT for our clients in the Williston area. Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving desktops, laptops, servers, networks, firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, Microsoft 365, and other business technology. Work directly with clients onsite, remotely, and over the phone. Diagnose problems rather than simply following a script. Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot IT infrastructure at client locations. Work with Microsoft 365, Windows, networking, security products, and cloud services. Help keep client environments secure, reliable, and properly maintained. Document your work and communicate clearly with both clients and the rest of the Pro IT team. Know when to keep digging into a problem and when to pull in another member of the team. Occasionally explain why the printer is, once again, innocent until proven guilty. What We're Looking For 3+ years of professional IT experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of Windows desktops and business IT environments. Experience troubleshooting networks, switches, Wi-Fi, firewalls, servers, and Microsoft 365. A good understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing. Ability to independently troubleshoot unfamiliar technical problems. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to people who are not technical. Comfortable working directly with business owners, managers, and end users. Someone who can manage multiple priorities and adapt when the day does not go according to plan. A valid driver's license and ability to travel to client locations in the Williston area. Experience that would be especially valuable Previous MSP or IT service-provider experience. Microsoft 365 / Entra ID administration. Windows Server and Active Directory. Firewall and network administration. Endpoint management and security. Experience supporting multiple businesses or environments rather than a single internal network. A college degree is not required . For this position, demonstrated IT experience and troubleshooting ability matter much more to us. Why You'll Like It Here Starting pay of $80,000 per year , with compensation based on experience and ability. You'll get exposure to the full IT stack instead of being stuck doing only desktops, only servers, or only one narrow piece of IT. You'll work with a wide variety of businesses, technologies, and environments. Relaxed dress code. Hoodies are fine when appropriate. Family-friendly workplace that understands employees have lives outside of work. A team environment where you have other experienced technicians to lean on when needed. Opportunity to continue expanding your technical skills instead of doing the same thing every day. A workplace that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously. Location and Schedule Williston, North Dakota This is a full-time, in-person position based in Williston. Remote work is not available for this position. You will spend time both in our Williston office and onsite with clients throughout the surrounding area. Candidates who are currently outside the Williston area but are willing to relocate are welcome to apply. You must be able to work in person in Williston to be considered. The Kind of Person We Think Will Do Well Here You probably enjoy figuring out why something is broken more than simply being told how to fix it. You're comfortable admitting when you don't know something, but you also know how to research, troubleshoot, test, and work toward an answer. You can talk to a CEO, office manager, receptionist, and another engineer without changing into some kind of IT robot. And ideally, you enjoy variety. If your perfect job is doing exactly the same thing every day, this probably won't be it. If you want to work with a broad range of technology, solve real problems for local businesses, and become an important part of our Williston team, we'd like to hear from you.
