DESCRIPTION
The Support - Elementary IT serves as a capable technical support resource for elementary staff and students. Operating independently within well-defined procedures, this role focuses on a mix of routine tasks and moderately complex troubleshooting to ensure daily school technology functions smoothly. This position requires judgment to handle non-routine help-desk requests, coordinates basic device deployments, and supports classroom presentation systems, acting to minimize minor disruptions to the educational environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide patient, positive, and enthusiastic technical support to elementary school district staff and students. Organize, prioritize, and accomplish varied work as assigned within the district help-desk ticket system, balancing competing priorities. Perform moderately complex hardware tasks, including the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of macOS, iOS, and iPadOS devices. Perform troubleshooting and replacement tasks on classroom A/V equipment and classroom presentation systems, resolving non-routine issues. Respond to moderately complex inquiries by staff and students, applying established processes to resolve issues before routing highly ambiguous problems to senior technicians. Assist in executing department-level projects, such as coordinating grade-wide device deployments and end-of-year collections. Assist with record-keeping and data entry for technology inventory to ensure accurate tracking of district assets. Perform routine checks of elementary classroom technology to ensure devices are connected and powered properly.
ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of tasks accomplished. Eager and able to learn new knowledge and skills to develop foundational IT abilities. Maintain a basic understanding of district workflows, policies, and operational procedures to complete tasks accurately. Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information. Attend meetings and training as directed. Demonstrate regular, reliable, and punctual attendance, positive work habits, and professional communication. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma required; Associate's degree in IT, professional training, or equivalent work experience (2-4 years) preferred. Moderately specialized skills in Apple device troubleshooting (macOS, iPadOS) and basic networking concepts. Solid working knowledge of computer concepts, productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace), and classroom A/V equipment. Able to work positively as a team with students, staff, faculty, administrators, and fellow team members. Self-starter; able to operate independently on assigned tasks within established guidelines. Flexible and willing to positively adjust to ever-changing environments. Strong basic communication skills; both written and oral.
