Engineer / Project Lead (Managed Services / IT Projects)

About the Opportunity We are a growth-focused Managed Service Provider (MSP) undergoing a transition from reactive support to a structured, process-driven delivery model . We are looking for a Senior Engineer / Project Lead who can take ownership of project execution, bring discipline to delivery, and operate as a force multiplier across engineering, service, and client management. This is not a coordination role, this is a build, lead, and own role. What You'll Do You will own the outcome of client technology projects from initial scope through final delivery. Lead end-to-end execution of infrastructure, cloud, and security projects Translate loosely defined sales/onboarding inputs into structured, executable plans Drive timelines, manage dependencies, and control scope with confidence Identify risks early and actively course-correct You will operate as the central point of accountability across: Engineering resources Service Desk and support teams Third-party vendors and providers Client stakeholders (technical and non-technical) You are expected to lead meetings, drive decisions, and push projects forward — not wait for direction. Client & Communication Expectations Act as the primary client interface for all project-related work Communicate clearly, directly, and proactively — especially when things go off track Set expectations early and manage them throughout the project lifecycle Earn trust through competence, consistency, and ownership Execution, Tools & Standards Build and manage projects within PSA tools (ConnectWise or equivalent) Ensure complete, audit-ready documentation (diagrams, credentials, configurations) Enforce clean project closeout and handoff to Service Desk Uphold and reinforce technical and security standards across all work What "Good" Looks Like (Success Metrics) Projects delivered on time, within scope, and without chaos Minimal post-project fallout or rework Clean, complete documentation every time Strong internal alignment across engineering and service Clients who feel informed, confident, and well-managed Required Experience 5+ years in a technical role within an MSP or IT services environment Proven track record managing multiple concurrent, client-facing IT projects Strong hands-on understanding of: Microsoft 365 and Azure environments Network infrastructure and firewalls Endpoint and identity management Security frameworks and implementations Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment Preferred Background Experience leading: Microsoft 365 / Azure migrations Network refreshes and standardizations Security stack deployments Familiarity with PSA/RMM ecosystems and documentation platforms PMP, CAPM, ITIL, or similar certifications (helpful, not required) What We're Looking For Someone who takes ownership, not just responsibility A builder who can create structure where it doesn't exist A leader who can drive engineers and manage clients without friction A professional who is comfortable being held accountable to outcomes Why This Role High visibility and direct impact on how the organization operates Opportunity to shape and standardize project delivery Work closely with leadership in a growing, evolving business Competitive compensation aligned with experience and performance
