Opportunity:
The Senior Software Application Specialist will provide front line software application and hardware support, research improvements in processes and software tools and tool usage within the Facilities Division, including submitting annual Information Technology Services (ITS) ideation requests. They will provide user training and support on existing and new software tools and processes. They will provide support to the energy management team, the HVAC team onboarding contractors for control initiatives, onboarding of new hires including the ordering of laptops and cell phones, and support access control with the safety and security team. They may be tasked with data analysis and cleanup for existing systems to make them more effective and reliable. They will coordinate with Washington County ITS on ITS and Facilities, Fleet, Fair/Westside Commons, and Parks technical initiatives. Employees at this level will be assigned tasks by the Administrative Manager of the Department. This role may require occasional travel to multiple locations within Washington County as business needs arise. Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
A wide variety of network and computer hardware and software applications, including networking essentials and peripheral equipment Data processing terminology and methodology Skills to: Translate technical solutions into user friendly language suitable for customers with little experience with information technology Patiently assist users at all levels when troubleshooting technical issues Ability to: Identify, coordinate, and implement the resolution of computer software and operational problems Maintain a wide variety of network and computer software Effectively train staff in the use of computer system applications The Senior Software Applications Specialist Class Spec includes the full list of knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) associated with this position. About the
Facilities, Fleet, and Parks Department:
Washington County's Department of Facilities, Fleet, and Parks is looking for an experienced Senior Software Application Specialist to join the Administrative Team. This team guides, leads, and coordinates staff within and across the various business functions to create safe, welcoming, and comfortable public spaces for the staff, citizens, and visitors of Washington County. The Facilities Division takes great pride in the planning, construction, maintenance, and repair of nearly 45 County-owned buildings (over 1.9 million square feet), grounds, parks, and associated hardscape. The Department includes technical and professional staff who are committed to public service, demonstrate strong work ethics, adapt well in reactive and emergency situations, and communicate effectively. We are seeking a collaborative and committed individual to support the Department's various business lines.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
One (1) year of college-level coursework in computer science or a closely related field; AND Five (5) years of experience providing computer hardware and software support (applicable certifications may substitute for the education and experience requirements). Additional Requirements Some positions may be required to pass a criminal background check.
