Job Description

Position Summary:
The I.T. Specialist works within the IT Department for STAR while reporting to the IT Coordinator.
General Responsibilities:
  • Know and adhere to STAR's policies and procedures
  • Ensure facility I.T. goals are being accomplished
  • Technical support for all facility hardware, software, network, and security issues.
  • Inventory management for all hardware and software for the facility.
  • Practice detailed documentation and managed ticketing system.
  • Ensure the department continuous compliance with all ACA, PREA, and departmental CBCF and BCS standards
  • Conduct periodic walkthrough of the facility to ensure compliance and cleanliness of managed areas. This includes all network equipment locations, inventory locations, and IT offices.
  • Employee onboarding/offboarding for all IT systems
  • Provide staff training on all IT systems for improved security and streamlined practice.
  • Assist IT facility staff in large projects, audits, and continued growth of STAR.
Performance Evaluation:
Staff holding this position will be evaluated on the following intervals of employment: 90th day, 6 month, 1 year, and annually thereafter. The following domains will be assessed: o

Position Skills:
Position Knowledge, Training Staff, Quality Assurance/Continued Quality Improvement, Recognition of Staff Contributions and Staff Concerns, Leadership/Coaching, Staff Advocacy Qualifications and Skills:
  • Certification in related fields and/or 5 years of I.T. experience
  • A strong background with two years in the field of corrections preferred
  • Valid driver's license
