Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and dependable IT Technician to support on-site network infrastructure projects. This contract role involves structured cabling, site surveys, and basic network hardware setup. Candidates with experience as a network technician or IT site surveyor are highly preferred. This is a 1099 contractor opportunity. On-site training is provided. Travel is required.
Background & Drug Test Key Responsibilities:
Terminate and test Cat6 cable Conduct site surveys using mobile apps and survey forms Identify and document DMARC, MDF, IDF, and access point locations Record cable routes, ceiling types, conduit requirements, and total cable distances Perform Wi-Fi signal tests using apps such as SpeedTest and GNetTrack Lite Take and submit labeled photos (before/after) Follow project-specific work orders and escalate issues to coordinators Ensure workspace is clean and all documentation is submitted within 24 hours of job completion
Requirements:
Proven experience in structured cabling or IT fieldwork Proficient with hand tools: punch-down tool, crimpers, drill, fish tape, etc. Able to lift 35 lbs, work on ladders, and move through tight spaces Own a laptop (Windows 7 or newer) with Microsoft Office and Chrome Smartphone with a camera for job documentation Reliable transportation and valid driver's license Must be professional and detail-oriented
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with Windstream or OneSource BT projects Familiarity with MDF/IDF room setup and patch panel installation Experience running fiber and installing access points in commercial buildings
Required Tools and Equipment:
Full hand tool kit Laptop with updated software Label maker 8' ladder Cat6 cable (1,000 ft box) PPE (gloves, glasses, etc.)
