Job Description
Position Overview Prep Charter is seeking a reliable and motivated IT Support Technician I to join our school's technology team. This role is ideal for someone with strong foundational IT skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced educational environment supporting both staff and students. The technician will be responsible for day-to-day technical support, device maintenance, and assisting with the management of school technology systems. Key Responsibilities
- Provide break/fix support for student and staff devices, including Chromebooks and Windows laptops
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, operating systems, and peripherals
- Support and maintain Google Workspace for Education, including basic administration within Google Admin Console
- Assist users with Microsoft Office and Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, etc.)
- Set up, image, deploy, and maintain devices for students and staff
- Manage inventory and asset tracking of school technology equipment
- Provide technical support during school events and high-demand periods (e.g., testing, onboarding)
- Collaborate with the IT team on system improvements and ongoing projects
- Maintain clear documentation of issues, resolutions, and procedures Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with device repair and troubleshooting, specifically Chromebooks and PC laptops
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace for Education, including Google Admin Console
- Experience troubleshooting desktop and cloud-based software, including Microsoft Office and Google Apps
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing 50+ pounds
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a school or educational environment
- Familiarity with device management systems and basic networking concepts
- Experience with student information systems or educational technology platforms
- A+ Certification or a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Work Environment & Expectations
- Active, hands-on role requiring movement throughout the building
- Frequent interaction with teachers, staff, and students
