Job Description:
The Department of Nursing in the College of Education, Health, and Human Services is seeking a full-time Nursing Simulation Technician/Information Technology Specialist I (00104) beginning in August 2026. The Nursing Department is part of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services, with approximately 275 students enrolled in the pre-licensure Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing program. Longwood's Nursing program was ranked No. 2 in Virginia by RegisteredNursing.org and continues to be ranked among the top 10 BSN programs in the Southeast by NursingProcess.org. Bolstered by its near-perfect pass rate on nursing licensure exams over the past decade, RegisteredNursing.org noted Longwood's exceptional 99.32 percent average NCLEX pass rate in its 2026 rating. The simulation technician will assist in the day-to day operation of a high-fidelity simulation environment focused on nursing practice and patient outcomes. This includes providing technical support for all simulation operations including preparation, maintenance and repair of computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers, and multimedia peripherals. This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus. Some remote work may be allowed during the off-peak times of year. Requirements:
Substantial experience with computer/information technology or medical field Bachelor of Science in Computer/Technology or healthcare-related field preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications and presentation software Ability to develop, maintain, support and update databases Organizational skills and thorough attention to detail Team oriented Proficient in communication, discretion, and time management A demonstrated ability and commitment to working with diverse populations and perspectives of students, faculty, and staff in support of the university mission is preferred.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, classified, non-exempt position in pay band 4. This position would not require travel and is on-campus. This position is not eligible for a flexible telework schedule but may allow for some remote work during the off-peak times of year. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience.
