Senior IT Engineer / Field Service Technician (MSP Experience Preferred)

Full-Time, Hybrid, In-Person & Remote About Us Founded in 2005, Charleston Tech Support is a growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) serving businesses throughout the Charleston area and East Coast. We provide proactive IT support, cybersecurity solutions, cloud services, consulting, and infrastructure management for organizations across a variety of industries. We are seeking a motivated IT professional with strong technical skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently in both field and remote support environments. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse technologies, support multiple client environments, and participate in exciting infrastructure and security projects. Position Overview As a Senior IT Engineer / Field Service Technician, you will provide both on-site and remote technical support while assisting with infrastructure projects, cybersecurity initiatives, cloud deployments, and client onboarding. You will serve as a trusted technology advisor to clients while delivering exceptional service and technical expertise. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, working directly with clients, and taking ownership of projects from planning through completion. Key Responsibilities Client Support & Field Service Provide on-site and remote technical support for hardware, software, networking, and cloud services Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving Windows, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Apple/macOS, networking, printers, and connected devices Manage computer hardware installations, upgrades, configurations, and deployments Resolve break/fix issues and provide end-user training as needed Maintain accurate documentation, ticket updates, and client records Communicate professionally with clients and provide timely updates on service requests Infrastructure & Project Work Deploy, configure, and support Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Windows Server, Apple/macOS, and endpoint environments Lead and assist with infrastructure projects including network refreshes, cloud migrations, and system upgrades Configure and support firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, wireless networks, and routing/switching environments Perform email, identity, and data migrations between platforms Assist with onboarding new clients and evaluating existing IT infrastructure Security & Compliance Implement and support cybersecurity solutions including MFA, endpoint protection, patch management, backup solutions, ITDR, and SIEM platforms Manage Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, and identity security controls Resolve security incidents and identify potential risks Support implementation of security controls aligned with NIST, CMMC, and industry best practices Adhere to HIPAA and client-specific compliance requirements Team Collaboration Serve as an escalation resource for junior technicians when needed Document environments, procedures, and technical solutions Assist with process improvement initiatives Participate in after-hours maintenance and project work when required Required Qualifications 3+ years of professional IT support experience MSP experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of: Microsoft 365 Microsoft Entra ID Intune Google Workspace Windows 11 Windows Server
TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP LAN/WAN
networking Firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and wireless networking Experience with cybersecurity best practices including MFA, endpoint protection, backup, and least-privilege access Experience with RMM and PSA platforms such as Syncro, ConnectWise, NinjaOne, or similar Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and clients simultaneously Preferred Qualifications Experience with Ubiquiti networking equipment Experience with cloud migrations and infrastructure projects Experience with Keeper, Hudu, or similar documentation and credential management platforms Familiarity with NIST, CMMC, or other security frameworks Apple/macOS support experience What We're Looking For Strong work ethic and professional demeanor Self-motivated and accountable Excellent customer service skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organizational and time-management skills Someone who takes ownership and follows issues through to resolution Comfortable working directly with both technical and non-technical users Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications 401(k) 401(k) company match Paid time off Paid holidays Mileage reimbursement for approved business travel Additional Requirements Valid driver's license Reliable personal vehicle with current insurance Ability to travel to client locations throughout the Charleston area Ability to pass background and suitability screening Availability Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, with occasional after-hours work and overnight travel as needed Why Join Charleston Tech Support?
