This may include coordinating services with local government agencies for joint projects. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited: Set up and install new computers; Move computers, printers for user departments; Install software updates and patches as dictated by policy or coordinated by IT leadership; Troubleshoot and fix computer problems both remote and deskside; Troubleshoot and fix Application Problems (TNCIS, BIS, MUNIS, etc); Coordinate and escalate problems with hardware vendors (CISCO, Meraki, Dell); Work with other County Technology Specialists both inside and outside of Blount County IT Department; Order computer supplies and hardware as needed, through Procurement; Answers IT Department telephone calls and support tickets, assuring problems are properly logged; Perform inventory/property management; Continuing education to enhance broad useful skill sets; Research and locate hardware and software for new projects; and Performs other duties as assigned. It is mandatory for Helpdesk, Application Support Specialist to: Ensure projects are managed in a timely and efficient manner; Meet with users to gather requirements and once the project is established, communicate progress; Create a tasklist with milestones and dates - share with team; Work with Purchasing Department to ensure contractual requirements are met; Work with non-IT Blount County Departments and vendors to coordinate tasks related to the success of the project; Be part of the team, if necessary, that follows up with the vendor on service escalations; Possess knowledge of departmental practices and systems; Problem solving; Effective triage of reported problems - providing data to support claims; Skillfully use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems; Ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools; Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and an orientation towards customer service; Ability to organize and communicate effectively; Ability to repair, develop, or install network systems (basic concepts are required); Ability to repair, develop, or install computer hardware on networked systems; Ability to repair, develop, or install complex software or management information systems; Ability to adhere to best practices regarding security and privacy; Ability to maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others; Propensity to work in a dynamic environment that requires adaptation to changing goals, priorities, and needs; Continuously maintain tactful and professional conversations with others; including, while being confronted with controversial situations; and Bolster and sustain a positive, professional demeanor with citizens, colleagues, elected officials, judges, and other agencies. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
High School Diploma; (College Degree Preferred); One (1) year of help desk experience; or relevant education or training; and Valid driver's license. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach and manipulate objects, tools and/or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. The position requires hearing, mental acuity, speaking, and visual acuity. WORK ENVIRONMENT
