Computer Technician Gatesville ISD Technology Department
2026 - 2027 School Year
FLSA Status:
Nonexempt, 226 Days
Reports to:
Director of Technology Primary Purpose:
Deliver timely and effective technology services to all campuses and administrative departments. Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and network and software applications throughout the district. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware.
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Technical degree or similar (preferred)
Technology Industry Certifications (preferred)
Clear and valid driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of computer workstation setup and imaging (identify requirement-i.e., Windows workstation).
Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications
Knowledge of various operating systems (Windows 11, Chrome, Apple)
Knowledge of Chromebook and Apple devices including MDM software
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows maintenance
Knowledge of Group Policies
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel) and Google Applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardware
Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals including printers and scanners
Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs
Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Technical Support
Complete district wide Helpdesk tickets and assist end-users to resolve problems relating to computer and
technology services in a timely manner.
Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade computers and peripherals, network cabling, and network equipment
throughout the district. Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.
Install and perform repairs to equipment, including printers, computers, Chromebooks, iPads, scanners,
projectors, document cameras, interactive whiteboards, wired and wireless connections and devices, audio visuals
and peripherals.
Install and configure application and operating system software and upgrades.
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair data communications circuits and equipment.
Maintain district wide student devices, and support campuses during testing windows to include state, benchmark
testing etc.
Provide technical assistance, equipment, and support during professional development sessions, assemblies,
presentations, school board meetings, graduation and special events etc.
Work cooperatively with staff to assist with logins and passwords.
Service equipment according to an established preventative maintenance schedule. Maintain accurate updated
records of preventative maintenance.
Process warranty information and repair work with the associated documentation.

Ensure that technology services are supportive of the instructional goals of the district.
Work cooperatively with staff and be a team player.
Manage and complete multiple tasks/projects with minimal supervision.

Posture:
Prolonged sitting and standing; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion:
Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching; may climb ladders
Lifting:
Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over)
Environment:
Exposure to electrical hazards; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day
Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
