Job Description
OverviewOur direct client is seeking a Desktop Support Engineer to support day-to-day IT operations and end-user environments. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity designed for someone early in their IT career who is eager to learn, take ownership, and grow within a collaborative team.
You'll play a key role in ensuring employees have reliable, functional technology while gaining hands-on experience across desktop support and basic systems administration.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvision and manage user accounts, including onboarding and access supportProvide hands-on desktop support for hardware, software, and user environmentsInstall, configure, and troubleshoot printers and peripheral devicesDiagnose and resolve technical issues independently across workstations and systemsEnsure all end-user systems are fully operational and properly configuredMaintain and update technical documentation for processes and issue resolutionSupport general IT operations, including equipment setup, replacement, and maintenanceRequired Qualifications2+ years of experience in desktop support or IT support rolesExperience working with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow or similar)Strong foundational knowledge of Windows environments and end-user systemsProven ability to troubleshoot issues independently and follow through to resolutionSelf-starter mindset with a willingness to learn and growStrong documentation skills with attention to clarity and detailPreferred QualificationsExperience with Active Directory (user provisioning, password resets, group management)Exposure to basic systems administration or IT infrastructure conceptsWork EnvironmentFully onsite role (5 days/week) in Hampton, VATeam-oriented environment with direct interaction with end usersOpportunity for mentorship and hands-on learning across IT functionsOpportunityClear path to full-time conversion based on performanceStrong opportunity for career growth within IT (support ? systems/admin track)Exposure to a broad range of technologies in a growing IT environment
