Job Description

Role Summary Summit Technical is seeking an experienced IT Operations Specialist to manage the day-to-day monitoring, reporting, maintenance, and support of our critical IT operations. Reporting directly to the Facility Manager (FM), you will be an essential on-site presence responsible for the management, security, and maintenance of the facility's IT network and server infrastructure, including multiple LANs and fiber optic transport.
Key Responsibilities Network & System Administration:
Manage network configurations, firewalls, data protection, software updates, and security patches.
Telecom & AV Lifecycle Support:
Oversee onsite voice, video, VTC, data systems, and the facility-wide radio communications network.
End-User & Account Support:
Administer user accounts and provide daily technical troubleshooting for both local and remote personnel.
Reporting & Training:
Deliver IT operational updates for monthly status reports and train internal peers on communications equipment.
Safety & Compliance:
Properly utilize job-specific personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain compliance with all safety protocols.
Required Qualifications Experience & Technical Depth:
5+ years as an IT/communications professional with deep knowledge of Windows Server, networking (Cisco/Juniper), Cisco security appliances, VoIP, and video conferencing.
Hardware & Satellite Support:
Proven expertise in comprehensive IT hardware troubleshooting, including specialized communication satellite equipment and terminals.
Compliance & Professionalism:
Active CompTIA Security+ certification (or the ability to obtain it within one year of hire) paired with excellent interpersonal skills to interface with vendors and senior leadership.
Operational & Physical Resilience:
Ability to work independently under high-stress conditions and meet physical demands, including climbing stairs while carrying up to 50 pounds of equipment.
Desired Qualifications Education & Background:
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent enterprise IT administration experience; prior US Military background with a Communications MOS is highly preferred.
Infrastructure & RF Systems:
Deep enterprise-level experience managing VMware, server clusters, and storage infrastructure, combined with a strong working knowledge of 2-way radio systems and RF maintenance (HF, VHF, UHF).
Certifications & Safety:
Active technical credentials (such as Cisco or Windows certifications) alongside current First Aid, CPR, and AED/defibrillator credentials.
Pay:
$100.00 - $150.00 per hour
